Elam was established in 1990 by senior Iranian church leaders to share the love of Christ with the Iranian people. We: • TRAIN leaders for fruitful, effective ministry in the Iran region, • EQUIP the Iranian church with Bibles and resources for evangelism and discipleship, and • SEND the Gospel through trained evangelists, church-planters and the media into the Iran region. Our desire is that all Iranians would have the opportunity to come to know the Lord and follow Him as a disciple, and that they would be instrumental in taking the Gospel to other Muslims in the Iran region.

The Ten Thousand Villages store in Alexandria has been a fixture in Old Town since 1994, and our loyal customers have made us one of the most successful stores in the country, thus ensuring steady income and better lives for hundreds of artisans in the developing world. As we approach our 21th anniversary in 2015 we are building on that success to strengthen and deepen the fair trade connection in the national capital region. We completed a successful campaign and Alexandria became the first Fair Trade Town in Virginia as well as in the DC metro region. And, even more exciting, we are currently raising money to establish a second store in the District of Columbia! None of our success would be possible without the support of customers who are equally as passionate about fair trade, and we welcome each and every one of you to our store to see what fair trade can do. Men Can Stop Rape
Men Can Stop Rape (MCSR) seeks to mobilize men to use their strength for creating cultures free from violence, especially men’s violence against women. In 1997, the founders of MCSR pioneered a different way of addressing the epidemic of violence against women. Though the majority of violent acts against women are committed by men, most prevention efforts are risk-reduction and self-defense tactics directed at women. The founders wanted to shift the responsibility of deterring harm away from women by promoting healthy, nonviolent masculinity. Their vision offered a plan for prevention that outlines positive, proactive solutions for engaging men as allies and inspiring them to feel motivated to end men’s violence against women. More than a decade later, MCSR continues to successfully mobilize male youth to prevent men’s violence against women; inspire young men to create their own positive definitions of masculinity; develop healthy relationships with others; embrace the concept of personal responsibility; work in partnership with female peers; and do their part to end violence and build safe communities.
