At Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS), we are grateful for the generosity of our volunteers and mentors alike. Our goals are to match more than 100 children with dedicated volunteer mentors, to increase the communities awareness of our services, and to build partnerships with community organizations and businesses alike. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Racine and Kenosha Counties is dedicated to establishing successful community-based mentoring relationships for youth in need, which help build brighter futures, better schools and stronger communities for all. We are actively recruiting volunteer mentors-men, women and couples-to be matched with one of the 70 children on our waiting list. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA of the South Plains recruits, trains, and supports a diverse community of volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the foster care system. These volunteers serve as Advocates for children that are victims of abuse and neglect and provide these children a voice while their case is in the court system. CASA’s vision is to provide: A CASA volunteer for every child; who strives to secure a safe, nurturing, permanent environment for every child.

As a child growing up in small Bible churches, one of the highlights of the year was the annual Missions Conference that was held, usually sometime in October. I enjoyed going and hearing of the work God was doing in other countries. After all, ours was a "Christian country" and we needed to send people overseas to share the Gospel of Christ. The songs we sang -- Send the Light, We've a Story to Tell, So Send I You, Go Ye into All the World and others, were brought out each year to sing several times along with a theme song and then put away again until the following year or until we had a missionary speaker come. I loved these songs, but it seemed we only sang them when "missionaries" were present.
