Diabetes and Me
We are a non-profit organization supporting Type 1 diabetics and their families, while focused around 3 main pillars; education, support and community. We offer a year round type 1 (with new general diabetes wellness info) online summit free as a way to share important information to those living in rural areas or who may not have access to regular visits with specialists or other practitioners outside of the one they have seen since their diagnosis and nothing has changed. Second, we offer 24/7 support groups for POKED (parents of kids enduring Diabetes) with over 10k active members in a private group setting that is moderated by our non profit and accepts newly diagnosed families as a resource to hospitals discharging families with less and less access to resources and information to share these days due to so many other variables. Lastly community is a huge part of what enduring a chronic medical condition is about and so we pair and match mentors with newly diagnosed families and those in their immediate team helping (or circle of impact) to ensure they are not alone and they can weather this storm.

Teachers in Space, Inc. is a non-profit educational organization which stimulates student interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by providing their teachers with extraordinary space science experiences and industry connections. Our professional development workshops for STEM teachers include personal and experimental flight opportunities, hands-on work with data sensors and remote device control, opportunities to meet and interact with scientists and developers at NASA and commercial space companies, and unique teaching materials and design contests to take back to the classroom. Teachers In Space, Inc. sparks a transfer of passion for space science and exploration from teachers to their students, preparing and encouraging those students to pursue further education and exciting, rewarding careers in the emerging space industry.

ALTAPASS SUPPORT INC
In 1995 Katherine Trubey purchased 280 acres of unrestricted land straddling the Blue Ridge Parkway to preserve its historic beauty and prevent development that would destroy the views from the Parkway. Though the land was bought as a preservation project, the new owners recognized that they had much more than Blue Ridge Parkway views and heritage apples to preserve. "Kit" Trubey, together with Bill and Judy Carson, began a journey: to preserve the unique history and culture of Altapass, and to use The Orchard at Altapass location to showcase it. In 2002 the natural and historical preservation projects associated with The Orchard, McKinney Gap, and Altapass were placed under the umbrella of the nonprofit Altapass Foundation, Inc. Then in 2004, the orchard and the general store were incorporated as a supporting nonprofit organization. Together, the Altapass Foundation, Inc. and Altapass Support, Inc. promote and support the many special projects of the Orchard. These projects attract an increasing number of visitors to the area each year and bring together locals, tourists, and vacation property owners. The mission of the Altapass Foundation, Inc. is to preserve the history, heritage and culture of the Blue Ridge Mountains; protect the underlying orchard land with its apples, wetlands, butterflies, and other natural features; and educate the public about the Appalachian experience. We depend on contributions from Altapass Foundation members and donors to continue the many programs and projects aimed at preserving the land, the history, and the culture of Altapass. Food For Greater Elgin is a Regional Client-Choice Food Pantry serving low income residents in Elgin, South Elgin, and East Dundee. Individuals and families in need can receive meat, fresh produce, dairy, deli and shelf stable items during their visits. Food For Greater Elgin serves 1,200 families each month, feeding 5,500 individuals in those households, of whom nearly half are children.
