Created in 1892 as a unique six-million-acre patchwork of both publicly and privately owned lands, the Adirondack Park is the largest park in the contiguous United States. By State Constitution, the public portions are protected as "Forever Wild" Adirondack Forest Preserve. The Adirondack Council, using the best science, works to protect and build a better Adirondack Park with wild character and vibrant communities.
