Foundation of Joy
Foundation of Joy creates art--cinema, mixed media, photography, theater and music to raise funds and awareness of the issues affecting children in the U.S and globally: education, hunger, climate change, art, healthcare, mental health, foster care, racial equality, gender equality and homelessness. We also work in the realm of women's human rights and education. We work with the nonprofits doing the daily work, and we tell their stories. The stories raise awareness and funds that not only educate--they go back to the nonprofits. We also use volunteer work as a way to raise funds, and raise awareness of the stories we create---it's a circular model that results in a win-win for all. The art helps educate and fund, and we create the art through acts of service. And the best part---we have an incredible group of artists who mentor kids and young adults in the creation of this art, and telling these stories, so the kids are the artists in solving these issues. Art spreads Joy. We're working on an anthology of shorts, created by mentors and the kids, that cover these issues. Documentary and narrative film, music, photography, theater---art! As we come on the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we remain committed to our mission. We hope you will join us in remembering Kevin J Hannaford Sr. and empowering our community's bereaved children. The Kevin J. Hannaford, Sr. Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) charitable organization helping bereaved children pursue educational opportunities. Through our gifts to families in need, we honor those we have lost and inspire our children to succeed in the face of adversity. We have been in existence for eighteen years, and we gifted over $450,000 in scholarships to hundreds of bereaved children and local organizations. With all our past year's fundraising initiatives being canceled or significantly curtailed, we still gifted 12 scholarships in 2020 and 2021 on behalf of the children we support. We look to serve the community and more children who have suffered a parent's loss as we go forward. The Kevin J. Hannaford Sr. Foundation Inc. is extremely grateful to you for considering funding.
