Our mission is to rescue abandoned, homeless, abused, neglected, and otherwise unwanted dogs, cats and small companion animals, with the ultimate goal of finding each one a stable and loving forever home. We specialize in providing care for animals with medical needs and behavioral issues and transitioning them thoughtfully and safely into adoptive homes.

We are the major source of private support to the LAFD. Founded in 2010, we provide direct grants to the fire department for the many items not included in the city budget. With 97% of the department's budget applied to salaries and benefits, the needs are great.

Affordable housing has never been more important. Since our founding in 1978, we have helped almost 10,000 people move into over 4,000 homes of their own in the Northbay area. Many of these homes made local living possible for families who would otherwise been renters or had to commute long distances to work.
