Founded in 2005 as the Missouri Coalition for Lifesaving Cures by The Late James Stowers and Dr. William Danforth, today Missouri Cures is an organization comprised of the original 501(c)4 legislative advocacy organization, along with the 501(c) 3 non-profit Educational Foundation. We are independent of any research organization, and welcome donors, volunteers, and collaborative partners from all areas of the state to support our mission.

Lighthouse provides free vision rehabilitation to people of all ages, from babies to seniors, who experience vision impairment, blindness and low vision, and live in Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties. We are registered as a 501(3) nonprofit charity and are accredited by the National Accreditation Council for Agencies Serving People with Blindness. The Lighthouse is funded in part by the Department of Education, Division of Blind Services, by the United Way of Pasco and Hernando counties, and by Pasco County Commissioners. We depend on fundraising and donations from clubs, businesses and private citizens in order to meet the need for services.

The bottom line is that mentoring works! BEST Kids Mentoring Program is guided by the belief that all children are talented. Through our one-on-one volunteer mentoring, our extensive training, staff support and our experiential-learning-based peer group, we encourage our youth to discover and develop their unique skills and abilities. Beginning with children as young as six and continuing, as needed, until adulthood, BEST Kids Mentoring Program works to enable youth to develop a positive sense of self, to acquire teamwork and group social skills, and to become productive members of society.
